A naturalized New Yorker, Gillian was born a Bay area city girl before moving to NYC with a determination to put the saying, “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere” to the test. By day she has been a “Girl Friday” finance administrator and by night, a sassy socialite. Neither offered the outlet her imagination and voice craved.
Realizing every girl needs a moment to herself to get her own mind straight, Gillian launched GirlsTimeOutBlog in 2011. She started posting purely as a way to hold herself accountable to writing down the thoughts that plagued her; but when the comments section became longer than the posts, she knew she was on to something.
Tuesday at Three (2016) was her first book, but won’t be her last. In promoting her novel, she found a new outlet for her voice—spoken word. Her first professional piece “Put Some Respect On Our Name” earned her recognition from the Harlem Arts Festival and opened doors for her that she never imagined. An alum of Sacramento State, she is always redefining my own possible. And she is motivated to help young men and women determine their own possible too.
